Function:

Sodium hydride is mostly used in deprotonation of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds,maleates and similar compounds.The corresponding sodium-containing compounds can be alkylated to afford various organic compounds,and related reactions include the Dieckmann condensation,the Stobbe condensation,the Darzens condensation and the Claisen condensation reactions.Besides,it is used to synthesize sulfur ylide so as to achieve the transformation of ketones to epoxides.
